What is CN=Monitor?

Directory Server Monitoring application. The idea is to monitor entire small to large scaled deployed directory server environments.

Main Features

Monitoring cluster/environment availability


Verify that all servers within your environment are responding. Verify load balancing and scalability.

Monitoring server availability


Keep track of uptime, certificates, cache sizes, replication status and schema.

Monitoring performance counters


Live monitoring to view current load or collect historical events to be proactive and view trends.
15 different types of performance counters supported such as Returned Entries, Returned KiloBytes, Connections and Response Time

Advance Query


Verify data consistency by querying several server at once or export CSV lists based on a list of attribute values.

What is the goal for this project?

The goal is to provide a general monitoring tool for Directory Servers with focus on iPlanet based (Red Hat / Fedora / Sun), Open LDAP and eDirectory servers.
Other servers will be recognized if possible.

Current status?

Monitoring and viewing server status can be gathered from:
  • Open LDAP
  • RedHat and Fedora/389 Directory Server
  • Novell eDirectory Server
  • General Monitoring such as response time, server availability (All)

  • View Schema (Most vendors)
  • Verify Load Balancing, DNS and Server level (RedHat / Fedora / Sun Only)
  • Verify Replication, (RedHat / Fedora / Sun Only)

  • Summary Graph of monitoring
